Hey Ascend Aerial Arts Community!
We’re making some important updates to our class absence policy, and we want to make sure you’re all in the loop. These changes will take effect on May 1, 2025, so please take a few minutes to read through them carefully.
Why an Absence Policy?
You might be wondering why we have an absence policy in the first place. Here’s the breakdown:
- Maximizing Space: If you miss a class, it means another student who needs to take a make-up class can use that spot. We want to make sure everyone gets the most out of our classes!
- Class Availability: We often have waitlists for our sessions and drop-in classes. A clear absence policy helps us manage those lists and get people into classes faster.
- Your Progress: Consistent attendance is key to progress in aerial arts. Missing classes can cause you to lose strength and forget what you’ve learned, hindering your development as an aerialist.
- Instructor Prep: Our amazing teachers put a lot of time and effort into preparing class material based on who’s expected to be there. Knowing who will and won’t be in class helps them (and us) be better prepared!
Here’s the New Policy (Effective May 1, 2025)
Okay, here are the details of the updated policy:
- Class Credit: To get 100% full class credit, you MUST notify us 3 days (72 hours) before your scheduled class by submitting the class absence form. You can use this credit for a future session or drop-in class. Please note that no more than 2 class credits may be applied per class session.
- Make-Up Classes: If you notify us 1 day (24 hours) before your scheduled class by submitting the class absence form, you’ll be eligible to schedule one make-up class.
- On the day of absence: Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any class credit or make-up classes for absences with same-day notification.
- Momence App Cancellations: Just a reminder that cancelling a class through the Momence App does not count as official notification of an absence for the purposes of this policy. To receive class credit or be eligible to schedule a make-up class, you must also submit the class absence form.
- Holding Your Class Spot: This rule explains how you can use your class credits if you want to make sure you have a spot in a specific class that has limited space:
- If you purchase a session to hold your spot in a particular class, you are required to use your class credit for any other aerial class *except* for the specific class session you are holding.
- Credits cannot be used to pay for *future* class sessions for which you want to hold a spot.
- Drop-ins and Class Packs: Students who purchase drop-in classes or use class packs to book a class must cancel their reservation at least 5 hours before the scheduled start time. This allows us time to notify students on the waitlist.
Why the Change?
These changes are designed to help our classes run smoothly, allow our instructors to plan effectively, and ensure fairness to everyone in our community.
We understand that life can be unpredictable, and unforeseen circumstances can arise. While we encourage all students to notify us of any absences as early as possible, we will not be able to offer class credit or make-up classes for absences with same-day notification.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these changes. We’re committed to providing the best possible experience for all our students at Ascend Aerial Arts!
See you in the studio!
